Craigslist Find...

St. Louis MO, $65; marble top with wood base
I love this coffee table, and if I didn't already have a marble coffee table I would be on my way to O'Fallon to pick up this beauty instead of writing this post.

Bullet Planter...

My husband and I just celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary, and for quite awhile now I've been looking for a bullet planter. I have to say that I'm not sure that I had ever even seen one in real life, until recently.
I was on my way home one afternoon and out of the corner of my eye, in all its glory was the bullet planter of my dreams, right there on some one's front porch.
That evening talking to my husband I explained my disgust, for whom ever let this planter sit untouched, upside down, being used to keep rain out of a bird cage. After my rant I moved on and didn't think that my husband had even really listened to my complaint, until our anniversary rolled around and I received that very planter of my dreams.
My husband the very next morning with a very loose description of my route home, tracked down that planter, and three different times knocked on that door, trying to get his wife the planter of her dreams. Turns out the owner was out of town and he had to wait for the message to be passed along, that someone had shown up on her porch, trying to buy something that clearly was not for sale.
In the end it all worked out, it was a great gift and wonderful anniversary.

Inspiration

I borrowed these images from Desire to Inspire, and I just love them. I am usually drawn to monochromatic rooms, But i think it is hard to cut all of the color out of your life.
I really love the kitchen, and the attic living space. Our bedroom is in room with similar ceilings, and I always like to see how other people have made similar spaces feel large and not closed in.

Did we see these this weekend?

Ebay listing in St. Louis. We saw these listed at a estate sale this weekend at $75 each, which we both thought was high.

Huge Frame

What do you think? kind of weird? I have been sort of working on this art project. The frame was part of a beer ad that was back lit with small light bulbs. We have picked out a great picture of a cow, that we took on a road trip, and have yet to pay the $50 for a 2'x4' print.
I decided to go ahead and hang the frame on the wall since it had been just sitting in the basement since I had painted it.
I think the frame may be hung a little high, but I love the way it looks in its place above the couch, and was thinking that it might be a great place to arrange a art collage.

A Little Before and After...

I picked up this patio set at a thrift store on their 50% off furniture day and scored all 4 pieces for just $20.
And once again flat black paint to the rescue. Right now the set is split up, and I have the settee and coffee table on our deck, and the two chairs are in what we are now calling our dining room.
I am happy with the way they turned out, now all I need are cushions. The settee may have to wait till next spring, but the chairs will need something before I expect someone to sit and eat dinner at this table.

All of these leather couch images keep finding me, and making me want, want, want. I keep trying to tell myself than soon it will be cold out, and you folks with these beautiful leather couches and going to be cold, where as I will be nice and warm, cuddled up on my huge, dingy, microfiber sectional. :(
*I didn't save credits for these photos but I belive a couple are from Remodelista

Jen's New Couch

Here is Jen's new couch in all of its glory. It really is a awesome couch. We will be going to a couple estate sales in the morning, and maybe able to find some great pieces to work with the new couch.

inspiration coffee table..

To go with a couch I don't have, I will buy a coffee table that I can't afford. All three of these tables are around $800, but I'm sure in reality can be found for under $1oo. My friend had said that this was the type of coffee table she had been wanting, so instead of straying from that idea, I went on a search for some pictures and love all three of these tables.

Leather couch inspiration...

After my post yesterday of the couch I would love to own, a girlfriend told me she had just purchased a couch just like I had been day-dreaming of.
I am happy for her, and I hope that she loves her new find.
She now needs some complimentary furniture, and I decided that I would take it upon myself to help, even if she doesn't need my help, it gets me all excited to redecorate.
I haven't seen the couch yet, but I was told it was vintage, cleaned lined black leather, metal legs, and button tufting. I was not able to find the exact couch, but I think between these three pics we capture the essence of what we are working with.
I will hopefully over the next few days be able to pull together what I think will be a perfect compliment to her new couch.
(*In no way did she actually ask for my help, but Like I said I am living through her and her new couch)

If I could afford a new couch it might look something like this...

I would love a new couch. The one we have right now is too big and the color is too light for it to be a hang out spot for Baby J and his snacks.
It is going to be really hard to replace our couch for a couple of reasons. Reason one being we have no money for a new couch, and reason two, we will never find a couch as comfortable as the one we have.
So, for now I will just dream of a new couch. I think that this one in the picture looks comfortable and worn in, the juice boxes and snacks will wipe up easily. The shape is clean and modern, it is a three seat-er, so big enough, but not too big.
