These things find me...

I had to pull a quick u-turn as soon as I saw this guy sitting next to the curb, on my street. I caught just a glimpse out of the corner of my eye, but sometimes I believe I have a trained eye when it comes to finding treasures in the trash. There are plenty of times when I turn around to find that it really , truly , is only trash. But, I've also had plenty of finds that are trash to one person and a treasure to me.

In this case, I grabbed this clock of the curb, and knew It had found a good home. There is one spindle broken, and the hands and face need some love, but with the amount this clock is worth, I am going to get him to the clock doctor asap.

  1. Huzzah! A trash rescue, made by a qualified trash foot soldier. My children are horrified by the fact that I would stop and go through the trash of others, but YOU understand and that makes all the difference. Why is it that some of us are wired this way and other people are so, so not?
Keep us posted on the patient and post a picture when she has recovered and is back at your house.

  2. My mom was never too proud to rescue something from the trash, and it must be where I got it from. I think you love something more when it has a great story attached, Waste not, want not !
